Collection: Hand Studies
In Hand Studies, I explore how we derive complex meaning from the specific arrangements of fingers, palms and wrists, which for some, become a life line of precise conversation in ASL. While some gestures denote quite direct meaning for us, others this studies take on a figurative communication style, their soft shifts of gesture conveying more the silky and elusive ebb and flow of emotion than literal words. Here we follow the feeling, tone and ideas the movement of our hands can conjure in our minds, all with out a single audible sound.
